I've developed several group models that focus on positive skills learned through Gaming. These will be advertised under both the Level Up! tab as well as my services links on the homepage. The hallmark of my approach is that I'll be using games that folks already play. I find that people I've worked with are unsure of using "educational games," beyond Oregon Trail of course. As a counselor I've always been taught to "meet people where they are." And I think that's important when considering what's going to keep someone invested in learning and growing as well.
I'm developing a schedule of parent groups as well. One of the issues I constantly run into is the lack of connection some parents I work with have with the things that their kids are doing. This comes into play very often with gaming. Now this isn't always the case, and I'll certainly welcome parents who are very connected with their kids activities, or who are gamers themselves and just want to know more about how they can use this to, perhaps, better themselves.
My schedule and offerings for presentations, lecture events, and consultation are going to be going up shortly as well. I've enjoyed surprising professionals with all the awesome aspects of Geek and Gamer culture, and I want to continue doing that. I've gotten calls from a few schools locally, and so I just want to make this a more available process.
I will of course have individual services available as well. Though this is nothing new given my work, but I'll be able to expand that as this transition continues. Just wanted to update everyone on where this is. I'm incredibly excited, and will have some more details up shortly.
